Process Development

As a technological leader in laser material processing, we rely on the latest systems and laser technology. We also have the know-how needed to profitably apply our technology. We offer this combination of laser technology and expertise to our customers, not only as a supplier of component series but also as a partner in product development and creation.

Feasibility studies and experiments

Oftentimes in the early stages of product development, the complete requirements of a product have not been fully determined. The final specifications and feasibility of a product also depend on the possibilities of a pre-determined manufacturing process. As a result, the initial phase is often full of ambiguities regarding the weldability of materials or the design of assemblies. In order to eliminate this uncertainty, we conduct feasibility studies and trials of laser working processes for our customers

Taking our customers’ requirements as a basis, we first select a suitable configuration of laser source, optics and system technology. Our strength lies in the variety of different laser sources available – from short-pulsed beam sources to 2 kW single-mode fibre lasers, through to 6.6 kW continuous beam lasers.

Our experienced process development team then determines the appropriate parameters to achieve positive results in the shortest time possible. Feasibility studies and trials are evaluated in a timely manner and their results are discussed in our laboratory, which includes a metallography department.

To analyse processes, we use temperature instruments and a high-speed camera. A detailed examination of the processing quality is conducted with micrograph analysis, optical bore hole measurements, and 3D geometry measurements. For an even more thorough analysis, we work together with partners who offer cameras that take up to 200,000 images per second, as well as X-ray analysis.

Samples and prototypes

We can also produce samples and prototypes for our customers before series production. Our advantage is that we can quickly and efficiently create the necessary fixtures for our flexible manufacturing facilities if the customer does not yet have lot sizes for an automated system. We are able to transfer the parameters used to the customer’s manufacturing process after this test phase. Our goal is to use our laser technology and technical expertise to produce high-quality results in the shortest time possible.
