BBW Lasertechnik celebrates groundbreaking ceremony for new production facility in Edling

Press release: On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the family-owned company BBW Lasertechnik invited politicians and business leaders to the groundbreaking ceremony for its new production facility in Edling near Wasserburg.

The Bürger family welcomed District Administrator Otto Lederer, Edling's First Mayor Matthias Schnetzer, Wasserburg's Second Mayor Werner Gartner, Andreas Bensegger and Jens Wucherpfennig from the Munich and Upper Bavaria Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Andreas Bonholzer from the Wasserburg Economic Development Association, the construction companies, and other project partners and representatives to the construction site in Edling, which is already underway.

Managing directors Hans and his son Andreas Bürger first presented the construction project to the guests.

BBW Lasertechnik has been located in the Prutting industrial park since 2009. BBW has been seeking additional space for years, but has lacked support from the municipality of Prutting. In the meantime, work is being carried out in additional rented buildings, which do not offer a long-term solution in terms of infrastructure and logistics. For this reason, BBW looked around in other municipalities – and finally found what it was looking for in Edling.

The commercial property acquired at Römerstraße 1 (formerly Selecta) has a total area of approximately 20,000 m². The first step was to demolish the old building. Now, approximately 7,500 m² of production, storage, and office space is being built. Completion is scheduled for summer 2026. The Prutting location will remain in place.

In times of economic uncertainty, BBW Lasertechnik sees the expansion in Edling as a strong sign for Bavaria as a business location. The new production facility will not only create additional jobs, but also enable further investment in forward-looking manufacturing technologies using laser tools:

"We are very pleased about the expansion opportunity in Edling and the support and openness shown by the municipality of Edling. Even though the economic conditions are challenging, we are absolutely positive about the future with laser technology," says Hans Bürger, Managing Director of BBW Lasertechnik.

The Bürger family was also very pleased with the appreciative words of welcome from politicians and other guests.
